The robotic engineering is a discipline that is on the rise, considered a breeding ground for creativity and innovation, consuming in agriculture, medical, military and manufacturing industries on the large scale.The youth has lots of prospects to excel in robotics, a new trend is drafting and designing sports robots.Unlike the other countries of the world, the robotic engineering cannot thrive out widely yet in Pakistan, However getting the attention a bit slower and many of the researchers are working individually or on Academic level. Meanwhile a group of Pakistani students from (NUST) National University of science and technology, from department of robotics and intelligence system engineering (RISE), headed by Dr Yasar Ayaz (head of department of robotics and artificial intelligence), is going out to take the part in Robo cup (robot’s soccer) 2016, being held in Leipzig Germany, for the very first time.
Another group of IT experts is working on a collaborative micro cricket robot project, the goal set is to build the micro autonomous legged robot out, capable of traversing a variety of terrains. According to anatomical diagrammatic analysis, the micro cricket robot is no longer than 5 cm in any dimension.Since the project is on rather a small scale so all the components were developed as the part of project in order to provide the actuation and sensing capabilities.
The idea of playing robots instead of human beings was first proposed by Pepsi who already utilizing the robots for determining human taste buds. Since the robots are far more intelligent, they got analyze the pitch condition and turn of the ball can go through the gaming strategy in a few of minutes.The weather condition has been considered ever as the basic and turning point of a cricket match, a robot with the specific software can analyze the situation far better, so it will definitely re-volute the cricket scenario.
When we go through the depths of this concept, have a brief look at all the advantages of robot players over cricket, since the designing, software and programming of a whole bunch of players would not be similar, instead some of them would have bowling capabilities, like a tight grip on ball, precise distance measurement and rotation of ball on specific angles. The fast bowlers can effectively judge the positions of players and attack back on their weak positions, on the other hand, the spinners can swing the ball like Magicians. However, a flexible robotic design will create the panic and the damages in their hardware (The parts of body) would have been the routine of cricket matches.
For batsmen the batting order left/right does not matter, the main advantage of robot players is that they could Judge the speed and line of length of bowler far more accurately, they will take a few of seconds out, whether a square drive or an off-drive, they should have to play. Unlike human players, the front foot pull, the hyden drive or hooks somewhat seem to be dangerous for robot players because of their flexible Structure.
On the contrary, the whole bunch of players should have excellent skills of fielding, in current cricket scenario it is everybody’s experience that a team went through an overall good performance in batting and bowling can verily lose a match if its fielders fall short off, since the robot fielders will be designed and equipped with fielding skills like fastest running, best estimation of their position for a catch out, hard grip over restriction of ball inside the boundaries, and a hundred percent accurate throw of the ball. One can think, a run out chance should be hard to spill off by robot fielders.
However, all concepts and ideas like these, are yet imaginations, seem to be the mystical stories the robotic engineers are working on, hopefully, exist sooner or a bit longer, but I am sure they will..!!
